The V International Municipal BRICS+ Forum, which took place on November 9-10, 2023 at the ExpoForumConvention and Exhibition Center, came to an end in St. Petersburg. The general partners were the Moscow City Government and MelcomGroup of Companies. The Forum was supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Rossotrudnichestvo federal agency and the Government of St. Petersburg. The IMBRICS+ Forum exceeded all expectations by bringing together in one place representatives of federal agencies, governors, mayors of major cities, representatives of business associations, businesses, and subject matter experts from more than 65 countries. For two days, the exhibition exposition and many events of the business program were actively working at the venue. The Forum participants also had access to a chess tournament, B2B and B2G negotiation platforms, lounge areas, press conferences, presentations of investment projects and much more. The annual event was attended by over 7,000 people, including delegates from 85 constituent entities of the Russian Federation and foreign representatives from over 200 cities in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and the CIS. This year, 700 commercial companies in Russia were represented at the Forums. About 20,000 people from 104 countries joined the Forum through online connection platforms. During the Forum, Senator A.A. Klimov presented the “Friends of Russia Club” badges in a solemn ceremony, which once again emphasized the importance of the BRICS+ IMF as an additional tool in building and developing interregional and intermunicipal relations.
Many companies and organizations actively participated in the exhibition space of the IMBRICS+ Forum, such as Melcom, R-Line, MBI-Sintez, KAMAZ, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, National Consulting Alliance, Yamaguchi, REAL Group of Companies and many others. The results of the 5th IMBRICS+ Forum were 112 sessions, sections and other events of the business program on a wide range of topics, 1340 speakers, and the signing of 210 cooperation agreements. Moreover, a Rugby-7 tournament and a chess tournament were held, where the welcome address from the Minister of Sports O.V. Matytsinwas read out. At the plenary session, held in 7 languages simultaneously, the Minister of Foreign Affairs S.V. Lavrov and the Minister of Economic Development M.G. Reshetnikovmade a video address.
On November 10, the closing ceremony of the International Municipal BRICS+ Forum was held, where the overall results of the event were traditionally summarized, and the foreign participants were awarded with commemorative wall plaques and commendations. The IMBRICS+ Forum Organizing Committee and the Moscow City Duma signed an agreement on interparliamentary cooperation at the regional level. This topic will be one of the key aspects of the Forum's business program next year. The main objective of the event was to be a platform uniting cities of the world for effective exchange of successfulpractices of territorial management, development of export-import interaction, and cooperation in various aspects. This task was accomplished, as the delegations repeatedly expressed their intentions to continue their active participation in the IMBRICS+ Forum. The Forum caused a special excitement among the representatives of the countries that will join the association on January 1, 2024.
